November 2009

Letter from President

November brings us the season of Thanksgiving and a chance to reflect on what many blessings we have in our lives. Having time off to spend celebrating the feast of Thanksgiving with our families is so important in shaping our children's future. Whether you instill your childhood traditions or have created new ones it is so very important to share our blessings with the ones we love!

We are all blessed with the gift of motherhood and are very thankful! This month our guest speaker, Lisa Clark, will be giving us parenting tips on "raising sinners". This topic will be wonderful for all.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered last month with Discipleship Weekend and the POP Picnic. Your service to our community is invaluable! A few more MOMS are needed to help out with our Thanksgiving Food Drive on November 19th, 9:30-11:00 a.m. Let me know if you can join us! (

Take some quiet time to thank God for your many blessings!

Oh give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples. -Psalms 105:1

November's Speaker Information

In November Lisa Clark from Sky Ranch will be joining us to discuss "Raising Little Sinners - Modeling Christ, Discipline and Maintaining the Peace!"

Lisa Clark has been teaching women’s bible studies for the past 6 years at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas. Prior to that, she taught new believing families for 15 years on basic Christian principles and growth. She has been teaching moms and dads throughout the D/FW area and at Prestonwood Christian Academy through Kingdom Parent Institute. Lisa has a unique teaching style that couples humor with Biblical insights and personal stories of raising her own two daughters. Grounded in God’s Word, Lisa has a passion for encouraging moms in the day to day struggles of parenting preteens and teens.

“I am not a perfect parent and realize that as long as I am covered in flesh, I will fall short on a daily basis. But I also realize that God has given me what I need to parent confidently. Confident parenting is the key. I am the parent and God has commissioned me to be the parent. I have a responsibility to Him, my husband and my children to give my very best.”

Lisa travels throughout Texas and Oklahoma teaching and encouraging moms through this new, innovative ministry. She writes parenting articles and serves as director of the ministry.

Lisa is married to Brad, her husband of 22 years. They have two daughters, Caroline (19) and Camryn (14). They currently reside in Plano, Texas

Get excited about our December Christmas Brunch. In lieu of a speaker we will have a catered brunch and Mom's Favorite Things Gift Swap. Bring one of your favorite things wrapped for our gift swap ($15.00 LIMIT) to our meeting along with your old gold and silver jewelry. A representative from Central Jewelry Buyers will be on hand to buy all your old gold and silver that is taking up space in your jewelry box. They will give you CASH for your old gold and silver on the spot. Nothing like leaving with some extra Christmas cash. They will also donate 5% back to the MOM's group so we can buy some uniforms and sweaters for the children at The Santa Clara Catholic Academy. I went to a party and brought my old gold and silver and walked away with $350.00. The cost of the brunch is $7.00.
