November Recap & Save the dates for upcoming events

MOMS welcomed Chrissie Dunham from Prestonwood Ministries to speak about marriage. Her message focused on how wives can support their husbands and the importance of our roles as wives and mothers in our families.

Make sure our December meeting is on your calendars for Dec 14. We'll have our annual Christmas Brunch and Gift Exchange. Cafe Max will cater the brunch. All attendees are asked to contribute $10 for the catering and to bring a gift for the Dirty Santa gift exchange (where you'll have the opportunity to steal the best gifts with a sweet smile on your face!).

October Meeting Recap

Thanks to everyone who attended our Oct 12 meeting, and a special thanks to our speaker, Kali Schnieders, author of Truffles from Heaven. We missed many of our members due to illness going around the school and hope everyone - moms and kids are feeling better very soon.

Kali was a fantastic speaker and shared insight with us about the importance in trusting that God will get us through life's challenges, whatever they may be. She also shared stories about her own parenting lessons and how she developed a relationship with her daughter Elizabeth. Kali asked that if we take away anything from her talk, it would be to tell our children we love them and that we are proud of them, remembering that our words need to accompany our actions.

For MOMS announcements:
  • We're still in need of volunteers for the pony rides at the Fall Festival. Contact Anne Stone to volunteer.
  • Next Eucharistic Adoration is Friday, Nov 2, 8 - 9 am.
  • Be sure to add the Wed, Nov 13, New Member Social to your calendars. This is a great way to meet people and catch up with friends.
  • Next volunteer opportunity at Minnie's Food Pantry is Nov 15, 8:30 - 11:30 am.
Our next meeting is Nov 9. Our topic will be marriage presented by Chrissie Dunham from Prestonwood Ministries. And don't forget to bring $10 to purchase your MOMS tumbler for our fundraiser.

Have a blessed month.

Oct 12 Meeting - Kali Schnieders shares her Truffles from Heaven

The next MOMS meeting is Friday, Oct 12, 10a-12p, in the Church atrium. All moms are welcome.
We'll have our first guest speaker of the year, Kali Schnieders, author of Truffles from Heaven. Kali will speak to us about real life events and how God is present in each and every one of them.  Kali's experiences as corporate businesswoman, stay-at-home mom, and Miss Missouri World have shaped her message.  Her touching stories are based on personal experience and sweetened with spiritual perspective.

Learn more about Kali here: http://www.trufflesfromheaven.com/

As always, childcare is available for your little ones (9 mos and older) in the Church nursery ($10 per child/meeting or a discounted annual prepayment of $50/child).

Serve the community with MOMS Outreach

Throughout the year, the Outreach Committee will provide opportunities to serve our local community. All are welcome to volunteer.

Help re-stock the POP Food Pantry - Bring one food item to first MOMS meeting
The POP Food Pantry is a resource for families in urgent need of food. The past many months the need has been great and the food pantry has been in constant need of replenishment. Please bring one item to the September 14th meeting to help restock the Prince of Peace Catholic Community Food Pantry. They need canned meats like tuna, chicken, roast beef, chili, ravioli, and spagetti and meat sauce. Thank you for your generous donations as the need for food continues to increase in our community.

Volunteer at Minnie's Food Pantry - Thurs, Sept 20
Join us September 20th from 8:30-11:30 to volunteer at Minnie's Food Pantry in Plano. This year the M.O.M.S. group is joining efforts with the POP Catholic School's PVO to serve others. Volunteers will help clients select food, sort food donations, and help with any other immediate needs. Wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes. RSVP to tristagoguen@hotmail.com or robyn_dee@hotmail.com.

Invitation Letter from MOMS President Nicole Graham

Dear Friend in Christ,

You are invited to join the 2012-2013 Prince of Peace MOMS Group.  We are a social organization of mothers with a philanthropic attitude.  The mission of Mothers Offering Mothers Support (MOMS) is to provide an opportunity for Christian support and friendship in an accepting and fun environment.  In addition to the monthly meetings and speakers, our group has social activities for moms, families, and children, as well as several outreach and volunteer opportunities.

Our meetings are held once a month, on the second Friday of each month, in the Atrium of the church, from 10:00-12:00.  We enjoy a light lunch first, which is our “social time”.  The meeting is called to order with a prayer, followed by Board announcements about upcoming events, and then our featured guest speaker.  Our speakers will enlighten, educate, inform, and entertain us for about an hour. Our meeting schedule for this year is outstanding and our scheduled speakers are phenomenal!

Childcare is available for your little ones (ages 9 months & older) in the Church Nursery ($10 per child/per meeting or a discounted annual prepayment of $50 per child.)

Our first meeting is scheduled for Friday,September 14th.  We hope to see you there and at all of our fun, family-oriented events.  The membership fee ($35) provides for a multitude of spiritual, motivational, and joyful opportunities to grow as mothers, faith-filled women, and friends.  Please join us for a fun, fulfilling year!

Much love and blessings,
