Outreach
This year the Moms Group will extend our efforts to helping our Sister Parish, the orphange in Hondours, with their immediate need for shoes. The orphange, which was founded by Father Jim and our Prince of Peace Community 10 years ago, is in desperate need of shoes for the children. We have a group of volunteers going to Honduras the first week of October and we ask that each of you that can, please bring in a NEW pair of shoes (from payless, anywhere) that fits the following criteria:
  • Sandals, Sneakers – that close with Velcro if possible.
  • School shoes and Church Shoes
  • Black Mary Janes that close with strap and White sneakers for boys.
Sizes range from 5 up thru 13. Older girls sizes 1thru 6. A lot of the kids are wearing sizes 7 and 8 and then another cluster of kids are wearing 11 and 12. We have a bunch of boys in the 3 and 4 year old group and they are mostly wearing 7,8 and 9 shoes.

Fundraising
The Committee would like to introduce you to our fundraising event of the year: "Faith, Hope, and Charity", 5K Fun Run/Walk and Raffle. Mark your calendars for March 5, 2011! This event will raise funds for 3 very deserving charities: Our Honduras Sister Parish, The Collin County Children's Advocacy, and our Prince Of Peace Church Outreach Program. Equally important, the event promotes health and wellness in our families and community. If you are interested in assisting on a committee or know of someone interested in being a sponsor for the fun run/walk or the raffle, please contact Liz Aldrine at 469-583-3100 or Bridget Jowid at 214-566-8020.

We are looking forward to a great year of creating lasting memories, good habits, and promoting wellness in our families and community while raising money for amazing charities!

President's Letter

Dear MOMS,
It is hard to believe this year is coming to an end. I have enjoyed serving as President this year and could not have done it without the amazing support from the board members. This team has done wonderful things for our group this year. We have heard from excellent speakers on various topics, had fun activities for our children, been able to enjoy each other on our social outings, earned large amounts of money to support outreach and have supported each other as mothers along the way. A special thanks to the board for all the hard work and dedication to our community.
I am thrilled that Tara Walsh is our 2010-2011 President. She will do a fabulous job! The board is filling up quickly so if you are feeling called to serve or want an opportunity to get more involved please let Tara know.
As we celebrate our "motherhood" at our last meeting/brunch please take some time to relax and enjoy our time together! I pray you all have a blessed summer. Enjoy the time with your children!

God bless you,
Megan Thornton
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. I give thanks to my God upon every remembrance of you. ~Philippians 1:2-3

Incoming President's Letter

Hello MOMS Group,
I am VERY excited and honored to be serving as President of the MOMS group for this next year. I have had so much fun being in the MOMS group since Mary Beth (my oldest daughter) was a baby (and she'll be 7 next month!) and I have made many wonderful friends. I have also learned a great deal about being a better mom just by being in this group.
I hope that you will each take some time and prayerfully consider being on the board for this next year. Many of you have already felt called and put your name down for a position...thank you so much! We are blessed to have so many enthusiastic moms that are ready to help out to keep MOMS the amazing group that it is. Being on the board is a great opportunity to use your talents or to try out something new that maybe you don't have much experience in.
I'm forwarding you the descriptions of each position and many are shared positions...it's also a fun way to get to know other moms much better by working on a committee.
Please let me know if you are interested...or you if you would like to nominate someone. I am hoping to have most positions filled before school gets out for summer.
Thank you again for taking the time to review the positions. Please let me know if you have any questions.
God Bless,
Tara Walsh
